Introduction! Jerry Ding

Hey everyone! My name is Jerry Ding, and I will be one of your vice-chairs for BMUN 70. I am a senior studying Economics here at UC Berkeley. I am super passionate about international affairs and diplomacy, and I am so excited to meet you all in March!

I was born and raised in Hangzhou, China and moved to Vancouver, Canada when I was 14. Having lived in China, Canada, and the U.S., I have grown interested in the cultures, ideas, and peoples around the world, as well as how they interact. My academic interests include (1) the interaction between international economics and domestic politics, (2) designing institutions for international cooperation, and (3) U.S.-China relations. Previously, I have published on the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the macroeconomic policy of the U.S. and China. After finishing my studies, I am planning to be an international public servant at the WTO and/or the UN and, subsequently, a diplomat under China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Outside my academic and professional interests, I love playing the guitar, singing, reading, and running.

During committee, feel free to talk to me about international affairs, career planning, or anything you are interested in! So excited to meet you all!
